About Me

Caitlin - apuralife

Since graduating with an honours degree in Sports Science, I have been deeply interested in health and wellness from a scientific perspective, including the interrelationship between body and mind. Over time, I have discovered a passion for online research and writing (whoever thought assignments would spark such an interest!?).

Read My Story

Suffering from rosacea for over a decade and feeling let down by the medical profession, I was motivated to delve into the potential causes and what alternative routes could be explored. The diagnosis also led me to evaluate what lifestyle changes I could make, to not only improve my skin but also my overall health and well-being.

Initially, the main goal behind my in-depth research was to find the potential underlying causes of rosacea to improve my skin; however, that mission has since overflowed into all areas of life – passion, determination and desire to live as naturally, organically, eco-friendly and non-toxic a life as possible. As a result of a total lifestyle overhaul, my skin has drastically improved, and the journey continues; on the pursuit of living ‘apuralife’.

I decided launching a blog (or portfolio, as I would prefer to call it) would be a great way to consolidate my experience to help other rosacea sufferers. The overall mission of apuralife is to provide health-related information for those looking to live a more natural and health-conscious lifestyle; however, it is not solely exclusive to those struggling with the skin condition. I fully understand that anyone suffering from rosacea has specific triggers and different ways of alleviating symptoms. Nonetheless, I hope the information provided will be of help and interest.

My ultimate goal is to work as a freelance content writer within a health and well-being context (even extending into medical communications in future). The scope is endless, from product reviews and informative articles to blog posts and broader collaborations. I am open to all possibilities and excited about the prospects. On that note, I have envisioned how I would like to expand apuralife beyond content writing and potentially create my own product line. I am keen to explore natural and sustainable goods, including those that enhance overall health and well-being, for example, personal care products, nutrition and homeware. Another area of great interest is the relatively new concept of ‘Wellness Design’.

A few facts about me; I am a total ‘Skincare Junkie’ – I enjoy discovering new products but am mindful about what I apply (to my face especially!). Over the years, I have stripped back my skincare routine to a few products, which I firmly believe contributed towards the drastic improvement in my skin, including keeping rosacea under control for the most part. I enjoy living as healthily as possible – eating a balanced diet (without depriving myself of the occasional treat, such as dark chocolate), exercising, getting adequate sleep and ensuring products I use (personally and at home) are non-toxic and as natural as possible. A high priority is to live and work in alignment with my values and achieve and maintain a healthy balance between work and daily life.

I incorporate exercise into my daily routine in the form of an early morning walk (whatever the weather!). My love of the outdoors extends to an interest in photography and I am never without a camera. I thoroughly enjoy being out in nature and appreciating the simple things in life.

I am passionate about decorating and interior design (including design in various forms, such as product and industrial). My surroundings are integral to my overall sense of calm and well-being; I like to use natural materials and colours, soft lighting, plants and essential oils to enhance my environment. One of my dreams is to go down the non-conventional route of designing an eco-friendly, self-build house in the future and being involved in the various aspects associated with such a project, as much as possible.
